What is Exercise Physiology? |
Exercise physiology is a health profession that provides exercise prescription for people with a range of health issues. The aims of exercise physiology interventions are to prevent and manage acute, sub-acute and chronic injuries, diseases and conditions, helping to improve and restore overall physical function, health and wellness. In Australia, exercise physiologists like Carly complete a 4-year degree and register with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) as Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP).

How do Exercise Physiologists Treat?
Exercise physiologists treat using the philosophy that 'Exercise Is Medicine'. As we all know, exercise can have a profoundly positive effect on overall health and well-being, helping to improve mood, drop weight and even reduce reliance on some medications. To help with this, exercise physiologists prescribe and instruct people in exercise programs that are tailored specifically to each person. These exercise programs are unique for every individual, and a thorough medical history, assessment and establishment of health goals are required to help determine what exercises are best suited to each person. Once this is established, the exercise programs are aimed at improving function and reducing or, in some cases, completely resolving the effect of certain injuries and diseases on peoples lives.
