FAQ
Who can see an osteopath, Exercise physiologist or remedial massage therapist?
Anyone can! Liam, Tiana, Carly and Alice see patients from young to old, tradies to desk workers, athletes, farmers and anything in between. If you have musculoskeletal pain or stiffness, headaches, nerve pain, sports injuries, arthritis and more, osteopathy, exercise physiology and remedial massage may be able to help better manage your condition and help with your rehabilitation. Exercise physiology can also help aid weight loss, mental health and help better manage other chronic medical conditions. To find out more about the NExT Osteo & Rehab team, click here.
Where are you located?
129 Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan QLD 4817. Free parking is available out the front and our clinic is easily acccessible by bus for those who require public transport. You can find out more about our contact details here.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can see an osteopath, exercise physiologist or remedial massage therapist without a referral from your doctor or specialist. However, there are some instances, such as with Chronic Disease Management (EPC/CDM) Plans, DVA, NDIS and WorkCover where a referral will be required from your doctor.
Do you accept private health insurance (HICAPS)?
Yes, for both osteopathy and exercise physiology, so we can swipe your card and you will only have to pay a gap fee on the day. The golden question we are always asked is 'What will my out-of-pocket expense be'? This is more difficult to answer and depends on who your provider is and your level of cover. This can be found out by contacting your provider, checking on your private health provider's phone app. These apps can be downloaded on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Do you accept Medicare Chronic Disease Management (EPC/CDM) plans?
Yes. If you have a chronic condition and are eligible for a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (EPC/CDM) plan, you can get a referral from your doctor an practice nurse for up to 5 visits total per year. This includes both Osteopathy with Liam or Tiana, and Exercise Physiology with Carly. With Liam, Tiana and Carly having a passion for improving quality of life for people with chronic diseases, we are glad to bulk-bill anyone with a Medicare EPC/CDM plan or with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Allied Health Services plan. Do you accept DVA Referrals?
Yes. If you have a condition that has been approved by the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) on a White Card, or if you have a Gold Card, you are eligible to see Liam, Tiana and Carly for Osteopathy and Exercise Physiology services with a referral from your doctor. These services are charged directly to DVA with no out-of-pocket expense to you.
Do you accept NDIS referrals?
Yes, for Exercise Physiology services if these are recommended for your condition. These exercise physiology services are billed directly to NDIS with no out-of-pocket expense to you. Unfortunately, osteopathy and remedial massage are not currently recognised on the NDIS.
Do you accept workcover patients?
Yes. If recommended and approved by WorkCover Queensland. We accept WorkCover patients for both osteopathy and exercise physiology to help with your rehabilitation and recovery from injury, helping manage your return to work. These consultations are billed directly to WorkCover Queensland, meaning no out-of-pocket expense for you.
How many consultations will i need?
This is a tricky one to answer and depends on your condition. Minor, acute injuries tend to require fewer consultations with your osteopath, exercise physiologist or remedial massage therapist. More chronic injuries and chronic diseases however tend to require more consultations to help with your rehabilitation and management. In the end, every person and condition is unique, and this is a question that will be better answered after an initial appointment.
What should i expect at my first appointment?
At your first consultation, it is best to arrive early by around 10 minutes to fill out some new patient paperwork. Whether seeing Liam, Tiana, Carly or Alice, there will be a thorough injury, health and medical history taken before starting any assessment and treatment. But, rest assured, you won't leave the clinic without receiving some hands-on treatment from Liam, Tiana and Alice or some exercise prescription from Carly, even at your first appointment.
What clothing should I wear?
Wear something loose and comfortable. This should be something that you are happy to move around in when being assessed by Liam, Tiana or Alice, and something you are happy to get sweaty in when Carly gets you exercising! For osteopathy appointments with Liam and Tiana, remedial massage appointments with Alice or for taping appointments, there may be times when some clothing will have to be lifted or removed to properly assess and perform techniques. Towels and gowns are provided and encouraged at all times and you will be adequately draped to help you remain comfortable throughout your osteopathy and remedial massage appointments.
I am pregnant. Can I still see an osteopath, exercise physiologist or remedial massage therapist?
Yes. Unless you have been directed by your doctor or obstetrician to not receive physical therapy or to avoid exercise, you are able to see an osteopath, exercise physiologist or remedial massage therapist throughout your pregnancy.
