Dr Liam McCambridge - Principal Osteopath
BSc (Clin Sci), MHSc (Osteo)
Liam’s interest in osteopathy, like so many other health professionals, stemmed from wanting to find a treatment approach to help manage his sports injuries while playing junior tennis. This interest grew into a passion whilst studying osteopathy at Victoria University in Melbourne, where he graduated in 2013. Working in and around the Melbourne suburbs, Liam realised, while Melbourne had been a great city to start his osteopathic career, that he had a yearning to see more of Australia. Liam and his family fell in love with the idea of a shift to the tropics, moving north to Townsville in 2017 - a place where he is proud to work and call home.
Liam takes a mainly structural approach to treatments, using a broad range osteopathic techniques, functional breathing, sports and kinesiology taping and rehabilitation to help provide the best possible care for each person. Having worked in both osteopathic and multi-disciplinary settings, he has a great awareness of osteopathy as an important part of the greater health system in Australia. As such, Liam prides himself on recognising when someone may require more care than what osteopathy can provide, and is happy to refer on to help get the best outcomes for each person.
Liam has had experience in treating people of all ages, professions and walks of life. Clinically, Liam has seen patients with conditions including postural pain, neck and back pain, hip and shoulder pain, headaches, migraines, arthritis, tendonitis and jaw pain. He has also treated patients with sports injuries, chronic pain and pregnancy-related pain; areas in which he has a particular interest. Liam has also undertaken extra training in kinesiology taping, tendonitis rehabilitation and mechanical respiratory assessment to help further aid people in the management of their injuries.
Outside of work, Liam loves his golf, tennis, listening to music, cooking and spending time with his family. Liam is also an armchair sports fan, and will watch anything with a bat and ball. He is a keen supporter of Carlton in the AFL and the Broncos in the NRL.
